Sean Minchak is a visual artist who creates both illustrations and works in oil paint to explore the larger patterns of the natural world and human beings’ relationship to the Earth.
They have a research focused practice that is informed by the history of the ancient world and current scientific models of the natural universe.
He has a meditative approach to pen and ink illustration, creating works with fine lines placed upon the surface with focus and patience.
The sublime in nature as well as my personal delving into philosophy, biology, and theology has led me to create artworks that revere nature. Through my practice I work towards creating
a vision of the future where human beings embody symbiosis, where we adapt ourselves to the unique ecosystems of the world rather than forcing them to adapt to us.
Through visual symbolism I explore the forces and patterns of nature as well as criticize the web of power structures that stand in the way of a symbiotic world coming into fruition.
I hope my work can be part of a larger cultural movement that seeks to stop the march of domination and destruction being enforced by the status-quo.
May we find a way to take the embers that remain and bring them together to form a flame large enough to overpower the tundric chill of our current age.
